Five picks for the week ahead, plus one to avoid.

## Monday: *Night Shift* (9pm)

A tense new thriller about the staff of a hospital car park who uncover a smuggling ring. Gripping, if you can get past the idea of a car park with a staff canteen.

## Tuesday: *The Great Allotment Challenge* (8pm)

Ten amateur gardeners battle it out for the best marrow. The tension over compost is unexpectedly high.

## Wednesday: *Brook Street* (7.30pm)

The soap marks 30 years on the air with a special hour. Expect secrets, a wedding and at least one slap.

## Thursday: *Britain’s Biggest Quiz* (8.30pm)

Back for a new series with a fresh host and the same impossible questions about cheese.

## Friday: *Wild Coast* (9pm)

Stunning new nature series following puffins, seals and one very confused sheep across the north-east coast.

## Skip it

*Celebrity Karaoke Island* (Saturday, 8pm). We watched it so you do not have to. Sadly it was not as much fun as it sounds.
