Five picks for the week ahead, plus one to avoid.
Monday: Night Shift (9pm)
A tense new thriller about the staff of a hospital car park who uncover a smuggling ring. Gripping, if you can get past the idea of a car park with a staff canteen.
Tuesday: The Great Allotment Challenge (8pm)
Ten amateur gardeners battle it out for the best marrow. The tension over compost is unexpectedly high.
Wednesday: Brook Street (7.30pm)
The soap marks 30 years on the air with a special hour. Expect secrets, a wedding and at least one slap.
Thursday: Britain’s Biggest Quiz (8.30pm)
Back for a new series with a fresh host and the same impossible questions about cheese.
Friday: Wild Coast (9pm)
Stunning new nature series following puffins, seals and one very confused sheep across the north-east coast.
Skip it
Celebrity Karaoke Island (Saturday, 8pm). We watched it so you do not have to. Sadly it was not as much fun as it sounds.
